Places to Visit in Aligarh

Aligarh is a popular place in UP and has been known for its educational culture. The city was founded by the Dor Rajputs in 372 A.D. The town came under the control of many people and territories containing the Mughals who renamed it to Aligarh and the French who made the Aligarh fort. The famous war of Aligarh was fought here in 1803 which put the city under the control of the British. The town is also popular for its security device industry.

Places to visit in Aligarh:

1. Aligarh Fort

The fort was actually made in the 14th century and came under the rule of the Marathas who were later supported by the French but were finally defeated by the British. Amusingly in the rebellion of 1857 the soldiers positioned at the fortification mutinied but didn’t kill the officers. The fortification is one of the strongest in the nation and is bounded by a bottomless moat.

2. Aligarh Muslim University

Built in 1875 – 78, the Aligarh Muslim University is the best Anglo – Muslim instructive points in India. The university is financed by the Indian Government and is very good of its wonderful and impressive structural design. The college is stretched out in 1,155 acres of land and is a famous place to visit for many travelers.

3. Ibn Sina Academy of Medieval Medicine and Sciences

The medical institute is named after Abu Ali Ibn Sina, who was a popular physician of Unani medicines in the oldest times. The institutes was established in 2000 and is a must visit to know an ancient healing traditions of Unani Medicines. Aligarh is famous for its unique civilization and rich past.

By rail

Aligarh railway station is an important junction and a big stop on the Delhi-Kolkata way. It is the oldest railway station and connects Aligarh to many cities of the country. Aligarh railway station operates more than 136 trains regularly (in both sides) and serves its services to Lakhs of passengers all day. The city has one Branch Railway row to Bareilly.

By road

The city is located at 140 km away from the capital of India. It is one of the parts of Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation buses available in all over the state.

By air

The closest airport is Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi and hires a taxi to cover 140 km from Aligarh. Aligarh Airport is now a day under construction in Dhanipur on NH 91.
