The Dudhwa National Park, locally known as the Garden of Eden, offers you over 38 species of creatures, 90 classes of fish, 400 creatures of birds and 16 creatures of reptiles. The green world was established in 1958 as a wildlife sanctuary, certainly with the aim of conserving swamp deer; later in 1977, the sanctuary was transformed into a national park. Currently, the park is under the 'Tiger project' to preserve tigers. In 1987, the park was transformed into a Tiger Reserve. These make the national park a must-visit place when you visit the city.

The Dudhwa National Park falls at Lakhimpur-Kheri, Uttar Pradesh, where India and Nepal border is located.

How to Reach

The National Park is easily accessible by air, road and rail. The Dudhwa Railway Station is located at a drive of 4 km, while the closest airport is Lucknow. From the airport or railway station, you can book a taxi or auto rickshaw to get the national park. If you are planning to the national park from Delhi, it takes almost 9 hours by road or you can board on train to Shahjehanpur and then hire a taxi for 3-hours drive to reach. Even, you can also come to Lucknow first and then move to Dudhwa, which is something around 245 km away from here.

Climate

In summer time, traveling to the national park can make you bother. The temperature is expected 45 degrees centigrade or more, whereas it drops down to 2 degrees in cool period. The forest experiences rainy season from mid June to November.

Best Time to Visit

The national park opens for sightseers from November to June. Though, catching the best part of the spot, you should visit between February and April.
Since the national park is a reserved part and taken care by the UP Forest department. The entry of the travelers is managed by the forest department. As the rules made for this forest is strictly followed. You will spend the best time of your life in the park while enjoying the beautiful species of animals and birds. Plan to discover the forest with jeep safari or elephant safari as it is the best way to enter into their natural habitats.
